Review: KombatUK Special Ops Tactical Knife
One of the items that I recently received from our new supporters over at
The Knife Warehouse
was the special ops tactical knife. I must say that I really liked the
look and feel of this knife once I got it out of the box. Let us first
take a look at the specs of this knife:
- Weight – 140g
- Overall Length – 8″
- Blade Length – 3.25″
- Closed Length – 4.5″
- Blade Material – 440 stainless steel
- Price – £14.99 from The Knife Warehouse
Features:
- LED Torch
- Fire Steel
- Seat Belt Cutter
- Glass Breaker
- Liner Lock Mechanism
At £14.99, the special ops tactical knife may be an inexpensive knife
to purchase but it performs so much better than I expected. Weighing in
at only 140g and a closed length of only 4.5″, this knife is an ideal
size and weight to add to any emergency kit.
The drop-point blade provides more strength and makes the knife
effective in many applications. The stainless steel used is 440
stainless steel which means that you will need to maintain the edge
every now and then but this is not as hard as it may sound. The good
thing to remember with stainless steel is that it resists corrosion and
is easy to maintain. This does not mean that it is impervious to
corrosion and rust but look after it and it should never be a problem.
I usually find that I need to sharpen knives when I receive them but I
did not have to do that with the special ops tactical knife. I started
off by simply cutting a piece of cardboard and it sliced through it
beautifully and no dulling of the blade whatsoever.
The handle of this knife is very comfortable in the hand and consists
of a seat belt cutter, LED torch with firesteel, and a glass breaker. I
was very surprised at just how good the LED torch actually was. I had
no problem seeing around the back yard at night when I was testing it
out and actually managed to find a lost ball bearing that ricocheted
earlier on in the day when playing around with the slingshot.
I tested the seat belt cutter out on a piece of paracord which
although it didn’t slice right through it as it was, it only took a
couple of goes and it cut through so that was not an issue in my eyes.
The glass breaker was tested out on a piece of spare overlap board from
where we built a shed on the back yard. It might not be glass but it
broke the board without even thinking about it. As for the firesteel,
that worked just as well as any others that I have laying around the
house.
This knife comes with a liner lock mechanism which makes it very easy
to open the blade up in one hand without having to re-position the
knife in your hand.
My overall opinion of the
special forces tactical knife by KombatUK
is that it is a beautiful and well designed knife. As of yet, I haven’t
really seen anything that I would consider to be a flaw but as I really
like this knife I can see it getting plenty of use so this may be
updated in time.
To wrap this review up, I want to say that for £14.99 you can not go
wrong with this knife. I truly believe that you will immediately become a
fan once you get it in your hand and begin trying it out.
