The drop-point blade provides more strength and makes the knife effective in many applications. The stainless steel used is 440 stainless steel which means that you will need to maintain the edge every now and then but this is not as hard as it may sound. The good thing to remember with stainless steel is that it resists corrosion and is easy to maintain. This does not mean that it is impervious to corrosion and rust but look after it and it should never be a problem.
I usually find that I need to sharpen knives when I receive them but I did not have to do that with the special ops tactical knife. I started off by simply cutting a piece of cardboard and it sliced through it beautifully and no dulling of the blade whatsoever.
The handle of this knife is very comfortable in the hand and consists of a seat belt cutter, LED torch with firesteel, and a glass breaker. I was very surprised at just how good the LED torch actually was. I had no problem seeing around the back yard at night when I was testing it out and actually managed to find a lost ball bearing that ricocheted earlier on in the day when playing around with the slingshot.
I tested the seat belt cutter out on a piece of paracord which although it didn’t slice right through it as it was, it only took a couple of goes and it cut through so that was not an issue in my eyes. The glass breaker was tested out on a piece of spare overlap board from where we built a shed on the back yard. It might not be glass but it broke the board without even thinking about it. As for the firesteel, that worked just as well as any others that I have laying around the house.
This knife comes with a liner lock mechanism which makes it very easy to open the blade up in one hand without having to re-position the knife in your hand.
My overall opinion of the special forces tactical knife by KombatUK is that it is a beautiful and well designed knife. As of yet, I haven’t really seen anything that I would consider to be a flaw but as I really like this knife I can see it getting plenty of use so this may be updated in time.
To wrap this review up, I want to say that for £14.99 you can not go wrong with this knife. I truly believe that you will immediately become a fan once you get it in your hand and begin trying it out.
